Here are a series of banknote designs I created in 2013 for my series' Garwara nation. I think such details such as these banknotes or other currencies give one an added depth of the history and culture on a realm.
Here are the large currencies used, above the coins. On the obverse sides is a former Garwara-CM Lord.
10P- Lords Taukamuru and Quimoto with a CM soldier, reverse, queen bee.
20P- Lord Taukamuru, reverse, salamander.
50P- Lord Sacamoto, reverse, horses.
100P- Lord Taukamuru, reverse, tiger.
500P- Lord Zang, reverse, koi.
1000P- Lord Hamuru, reverse Golden Pheasants (the Garwara national bird).
These Lords represented the great leaders of the national past. Lord Taukamuru unified and founded the current Garwara nation and the CM. Lord Zang stabilize the nation after years of unrest and Lord Hamuru vastly improved the nation into the empire it is today. All of these leaders go back to the timeline events as I created over the past thirty years. Lord Taukamuru was the Lord when I created the series in '86.
I share these now as I have a new 2016 series of banknotes that I'm just completing. I have more character art to come. I'm just a big fan of world building and these banknotes are a part of that.

These are great, I can't wait to see the news one! I like the little details of world building myself. Once when I was making currencies for 5 different, adjacent nations it occurred to me that I needed to have exchange rates between all of them, so I spent quite a bit of time working all of that out. Lots of fun for me, probably not so important to anyone else.
