Jill Matsmoti- Garwara assassin by LavenderBlade Jill Matsmoti- Garwara assassin by LavenderBlade
Here is a recent piece I drew of my character Jill Matsmoti, the Garwara ninja girl/assassin. In the background are the Garwara Black Owl assault unit agents. I created Jill Matsmoti in 1991 and thought she deserved a good profile piece. She's one of the most lethal assassins of the Garwara/CM elite agents.

Here is a process of how this piece developed,

Thanks for looking! :ninjabattle:

Thank you! I needed to give Jill Matsmoti that super toned physique needed for her challenging duties. Everything down to her fingers had to make sense. No long nails or anything like that, she needed strong finger, hands to climb those castle walls.

Awesome composition! Jill's skin is shaded beautifully. I don't understand why the agents don't always have legs ... I can only guess it's because they're coming out of the fog, but that isn't really clear. Here's to seeing your art continue to develop! Love the way this image hits the eye.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes indeed, the Black Owl agents are coming out the foggy night. I should have blended the fog in better with the lower portions of their outfit to illustrate that. Something to learn from the next time I do such a piece. Your critique is very appreciated. I really liked how this piece turned out overall. :)

abs are so hard to draw and you did it so excellently!! (is this a word?)

Thank you, I appreciate that! Abs can be tricky and they differ slightly from male to female. There are some softer features with making abs or for that matter muscles on a female. It's a delicate balance. With the midriff this character demands that I get her abs right. I'm always trying to learn and improve so next time I'm hoping Jill Matsmoti's abs are even better.

It's good hear from you. I like what you've been doing.

Hey you are so wise about anatomy!
I'm sure everytime you draw it will be revealed more and more!
So definitely Jill Matsmoti's abs WILL look better!
Thanks brada it's good to hear from you as well.

Well, thanks a lot. That's actually very encouraging. Sometimes it felt like a lot of people were leaving.

I think for long term DA members like us it seems like that. Many people simply move on with their lives and art isn't their top priority or even a serious hobby. With so many other places to share art many people have moved away or don't post here as often. DA is big and it can be discouraging when one puts a lot of time in their work and it gets little to no recognition. I understand that feeling. DA is far from perfect but I still think it's a good site to share one's art. I'm curious to see how DA develops now since it's a part of Wix.

Well said. I agree with everything you said pretty much, ha. I didn't know it was a part of wix now, that could be interesting.

I think Wix acquired Deviantart in late February. I'm hoping it's a positive direction.

Thank you sir! I kept copies of this piece from start to finish hoping it would come together and to show the processes of my work. It's not the conventional method most artist use but it's my way of creating art. I'll try to show more processes from time to time, especially if I'm blown away with the pencils and have high hopes in the final product.

I certainly appreciate your feedback my friend.

More to come. I'm working on some new characters and vehicle designs at this time. I'll certainly draw more of my established characters like Jill Matsmoti as well. It's been some time since I drew an action piece so that my be on the horizon too.

Thanks! :thanks:

Thank you! A fun piece to draw. For most of her existence she's had that midriff to display those super toned abs.
